As an everyday car, it’s improved. The ride is smoother, the cabin is quieter, and the interior feels more refined with softer materials and a cleaner, more cohesive design. The screen, software, and cameras are still best-in-class, and the audio system continues to stand out as one of the biggest highlights, to the point where it genuinely changes the driving experience and brings you back into enjoying music again.

But once you get past that surface-level polish, the issues show up quickly. It’s fast in a straight line, but it’s not a performance car. In corners, it feels unstable compared to something like a Porsche Boxster, and that difference becomes obvious the moment you try to push it. More frustrating are the design decisions. Removing turn signal stalks and moving core driving functions like shifting into the touchscreen makes basic actions more complicated and, at times, unsafe. It’s not innovation, it’s friction.

The conclusion is simple. This is a great commuter. It’s efficient, comfortable, and does exactly what most people need. But it’s not built for people who actually enjoy driving. It’s a very good appliance that happens to be a car.

<img cut… it’s going to be 25 bips.”
Markets look priced for something modest. I noted Bitcoin drifting lower into the announcement, trading in a narrow channel: “112,800 to 113,200.” If the cut is routine, expect chop and a relief bid; only a surprise magnitude (50–75 bps) would shock risk assets.

My Take
A standard cut is already in the tape. No fireworks unless Powell deviates from script.

Consumer Protection: Michigan Targets Bitcoin ATMs

“Michigan… cracking down on Bitcoin ATMs because of fraud,” especially scams aimed at seniors (fake tax threats, utility shutoffs, etc.). I referenced The Beekeeper to underline the rage many feel when the elderly are targeted: “It was one of the most disgusting things… these guys should get their ass kicked.”

Context
Unhosted, no-KYC kiosks can be weaponized by scammers who coach victims to feed cash and transmit irreversible on-chain value. States respond by tightening rules, licensing, and surveillance around kiosks.

My Take
I hate the scams—and I get why regulators are reacting—but shuttering ATMs isn’t a silver bullet. Better KYC, smarter fraud-interdiction, and active public-education beats blanket bans.

Politics & Money: Trump-Adjacent Crypto Revenues

“Trump crypto holdings, crypto-adjacent companies… have taken in around $800 million in revenue.” The number raised eyebrows and fed the broader corruption narrative I’ve been covering: “You heard my rant yesterday… collusion, corruption in all areas of government.”

Context
The point isn’t partisan; it’s structural. Politicians and proximity capital flows often blur the lines between policy and profit.

My Take
If leaders wanted conflicts fixed, they’d fix them. Posturing ≠ policy.

Crime & “Turning Off the Water”: A Policing Analogy

“If somebody actually gave a [care] about crime… you could put two Guardsmen on every corner… like turning off the water to fix a leak.”
The argument: emergency presence buys time for city leadership to work root causes—housing, poverty, mental health, illegal guns—without pretending the status quo is acceptable.

My Take
Not crypto, but markets price social stability. Real leadership beats optics.

Western Union & Solana: Rails That Finally Fit

“It looks like Western Union is choosing Solana for the stablecoin, which makes sense.” Low fees and throughput match remittance needs. I also noted: “They should have done [this] 10 years ago… but we have regulatory approval now that is going to make it more favorable.”

Context
High-volume, low-value corridors live or die on spread and latency. If incumbents actually pass savings on, this dents the predatory fee model I’ve criticized.

My Take
Solana is the pragmatic pick for remittances today. Watch execution—and whether savings reach users.

ETFs & Market Structure: Temper Expectations

“Solana ETF draws 69.5 million on debut…” but I cautioned against assuming instant moonshots: “We didn’t see Ethereum move at all [on ETF],” while Bitcoin’s ETF altered holder mix and dampened volatility more than it sparked a one-way rally.

My Take
ETFs can add resilience more than rocket fuel. The exception I floated: “If Litecoin gets that ETF… smaller market cap means inflows bite harder.”

Listener Questions

“How can crypto be affected by Trump and Xi’s meeting, you think?”
Quote: “Optimistic caution… if the deal is beneficial… we release some tension.”
Answer: I expect a “win-win-lose-lose”—neither side gets everything. That’s not bearish; it’s removal of worst-case tails (like 100% tariffs). Net effect: mildly supportive risk tone, not a face-ripper rally.

“ETF approvals?”
Quote: “We don’t got any ETF approvals… Solana ETF draws 69.5 million on debut.”
Answer: Treat new non-BTC ETFs as plumbing upgrades—not guaranteed price catapults. The bigger story is who accumulates and how that changes market behavior during shocks.

My Takes (Pulled Directly From Today’s Live)

On the Fed cut: “We’re already priced in.”

On Western Union: “Money-gouging… finally doing a thing they should have done 10 years ago.”

On ATM fraud: “Disgusting… especially when it hits the elderly.”

On corruption: “If somebody wants to fix something, they can just fix it… posturing and peacocking is BS.”

On Trump–Xi: “Win-win-lose-lose… not much impact on crypto, but it removes the 100% tariff nuke.”

On ETFs: “Adds resilience more than fireworks. Litecoin would react more because of size.”

Crypto Prices

Bitcoin (BTC): ~$113.2K (range today: 112.8K–113.2K) — Market Cap: not stated in recording

Ethereum (ETH): Price not stated in recording — Market Cap: not stated in recording

Summary

Rate day likely brings a garden-variety cut—already discounted. Michigan is tightening on scam-prone Bitcoin ATMs; I’m pro-protection, anti-overreach. Trump-adjacent crypto revenue headlines add fuel to the broader corruption critique. Western Union picking Solana is the right rail for remittances—now prove fee relief. ETF hype should be tempered: they harden market structure more than they moon prices. U.S.–China optics matter, but a muddled truce is still a tail-risk release for risk assets.

Get more from Daily Crypto News in the Substack app

Available for iOS and Android

Get the app

BMW 5 Series Review and the Bitcoin Constitution

A recording from Daily Crypto News's live video

Daily Crypto News

What’s up, everybody?

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Cars & Crypto, and today we’re doing it from the road — literally. I’m driving through the hills of Malibu, headed toward the 101 and eventually the airport. It’s sunny, it’s gorgeous, and I’ve spent the weekend living with a 2024 BMW 5 Series.

It makes about 500 horsepower with a mild-hybrid 48-volt system. Full tank says 523 miles of range, which doesn’t make much sense given how quickly that number drops once you actually drive it like a BMW.

On paper, this should be impressive. In reality… it’s complicated.

<picture></picture>

<g>

</g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

The Boat That Thinks It’s a Sports Sedan

Let’s start here: the new 5 Series is a boat. You can feel every bit of its weight. It’s heavy, numb, and despite all the torque, it never feels eager. If you’re just cruising — gas, brake, park, repeat — you’ll be fine. But if you actually like driving, you’ll feel that disconnect.

The problem is that BMW’s identity used to be about the drive. It was “The Ultimate Driving Machine.” But somewhere between cost-cutting and chasing Tesla’s touchscreen minimalism, that DNA got lost.

The interior looks slick — big screens, sharp lines — but all the personality’s been replaced with menus. Climate controls, seat heaters, drive settings, all buried in layers of glass and software.

My Take:
BMW traded soul for software. The 5 Series isn’t a driver’s car anymore; it’s an iPad on wheels for people who don’t want to think about driving. The brand used to make you feel connected — now it’s trying to make you forget you’re even behind the wheel.

The Infotainment Mess
<div Throttle response is unpredictable — too much lag, then too much shove. The transmission never seems sure whether you’re trying to accelerate or just adjust pace. It hesitates, then overcorrects.

It’s jerky. Slow to downshift. The opposite of what you want from something wearing an M badge or pretending to. Compared to Porsche’s PDK, it’s not even in the same conversation.

My Take:
BMW used to nail this. Their engines and transmissions spoke the same language. Now it feels like two interns arguing over Bluetooth.

Brakes and Steering: Confidence Issues

Modern brakes are all grab and no feel. A gentle touch turns into an abrupt stop. Combine that with “smart” sensors and stop/start systems, and you get a car that second-guesses you every time you slow down.

The steering’s no better — light, vague, lifeless. It doesn’t load up naturally, and there’s zero feedback off center. Try to push it through a curve and you realize you’re steering a cloud.

My Take:
This isn’t nitpicking. Steering feel is the heart of a BMW. Without it, the brand’s just making fast furniture.

Comfort Without Character

Let’s give it some flowers — the cabin is quiet, the Harman Kardon sound system is solid (B-minus), and the seats are comfortable once you figure them out. At highway speeds, it’s stable and planted. But the suspension can’t decide what it wants to be.

It’s not floaty enough to be luxury. It’s not firm enough to be sporty. It’s… fine.

My Take:
Fine is the worst compliment you can give a car that used to set the benchmark. It’s the same problem as half the crypto projects out there — too corporate to be passionate, too calculated to be fun.

The $80,000 Question

So, is it worth $80K? Absolutely not. You’re paying for the badge. There are better luxury sedans (Lexus, Genesis), better driver’s cars (Porsche), and better value plays (Toyota Camry, honestly).

If you want a car that looks premium and don’t care how it drives, sure. But if you care about experience, engagement, or feedback, there’s no soul here.

This 5 Series exists for people who want to flex a BMW logo, not for people who want to drive one. It’s a brand-name car for folks who set-and-forget everything — including their car payment. For 40k get a loaded Honda Accord or Toyota Camery. You would notice the difference.

Crypto Segment: Quantum, Core, and the Constitution of Bitcoin

<picture></picture>

<g>

</g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

Let’s switch gears. Since this is Cars & Crypto, let’s talk Bitcoin.

There’s been a wave of new debates about quantum-resistant cryptography and what it means for Bitcoin’s future. Some, like Antony Yakovenko, are warning of a breakthrough by 2030 that could crack today’s encryption. Others, like Jameson Lopp and Andreas Antonopoulos, are debating what a “quantum-ready” Bitcoin might look like.

Then there’s the ongoing conversation around Bitcoin Core and block sizes — the same old battles of scalability, governance, and decentralization.

And it hit me: Bitcoin’s biggest threat isn’t quantum computing. It’s charisma.

A charismatic dev or influencer convincing enough people to “evolve” Bitcoin could change its very nature. Once that happens, all the principles — immutability, scarcity, finality — go out the window.

Bitcoin doesn’t need to change. We’ve built an entire global economy on its foundation. Tweak the layers above it all you want — but the base layer is the Constitution. You don’t rewrite the Constitution because someone promises better UX. You protect it because everything depends on it.

The Money Supply and the Road Ahead

The global money supply is hitting new highs again — a lagging indicator that’s historically lined up with crypto rallies about 60 to 90 days later. If that pattern holds, we might be staring down a wild Uptober and Upvember run.

The data doesn’t lie: liquidity fuels Bitcoin. And right now, liquidity’s roaring back.

Final Thoughts

Driving this 5 Series made me think about Bitcoin more than it made me think about driving. Both face the same question: what happens when innovation becomes dilution?

BMW’s trying to please everyone and satisfy no one. Bitcoin’s has people trying to do the same to the network.

So yeah — the BMW 5 Series looks sharp, rides smooth, and photographs well. But it doesn’t know what it wants to be.

At least Bitcoin does.

I’m Matt — this has been Cars & Crypto.
See you next drive.
Happy destabilize or destroy altcoins. The fear is that if stablecoins become the dominant form of crypto utility, they’ll make altcoins look volatile, risky, and pointless.

Let’s unpack that.

First, “altcoin” is a catch-all term that includes everything that isn’t Bitcoin. That means meme coins, utility tokens, L1s like Solana or Avalanche, L2s like Arbitrum, and even gold-backed digital currencies. To treat them all the same is like lumping penny stocks in with Apple and Amazon.

Now, stablecoins—like USDC or Tether—are not investments. You’re not holding a stablecoin hoping for a moonshot. You're holding it because you want to not moon or crash. It’s a parking spot. A medium of exchange. A tool for DeFi, cross-border payments, or trading efficiency.

So no—stablecoins aren’t killing altcoins. Altcoins are killing themselves by lacking utility, lacking a market, or being outright scams. Some might still fail even with great teams and honest intentions. As Jean-Luc Picard said: "You can do everything right and still fail. That’s not weakness—that’s life."

Stablecoins aren't the threat. The real threat to altcoins? Lack of relevance, shady founders, no users, and zero use case. The Genius Act didn’t cause that.

Circle, USDC, and My IPO Regret

Let me just say it: I screwed up.

I waited years—years—for Circle to go public. I kept saying, “Stablecoins are going to be the rails of the global financial system,” and Circle would be the company laying those rails. I even talked about how, once regulation came, it’d be Circle—not Bitcoin, not Ethereum—that got institutional adoption first.

Then the IPO finally comes... and I didn’t buy.

Why? Because I’d been burned. Bad. Coinbase was supposed to be the golden child. I bought at $240, thinking I was catching a rocket. It crashed. Hard. Watched it go all the way down to like $30. I spent years dollar-cost averaging just to feel like less of an idiot.

I still believe everything I said. USDC isn’t some random altcoin—it’s becoming core financial infrastructure. Circle has compliance, bank partnerships, regulators on speed dial. This wasn’t some Hail Mary tech IPO. It was the culmination of everything I’ve been talking about since 2019.

And yet—I let the fear of another Coinbase situation stop me.

It’s a lesson. Not just in conviction, but in pattern recognition. I trusted my past losses more than I trusted my research. I didn’t follow my own thesis. I blinked. And now I’m watching a company I’ve been bullish on forever trade like a junk SPAC, knowing damn well I’ll be back in later at a higher price.

Don’t be me.

If you believe the thesis, if you’ve said it out loud 50 times, if you’ve got the receipts—own it. Buy it. Don’t let your past stop you from stepping into what you already know is the future.

Circle was the trade. I just didn’t take it.

Quantum Computing: When (Not If) It Breaks Everything

Joshy B asked whether staked crypto is safer or more vulnerable to quantum computing.

Let me be crystal clear: nothing is safe from quantum computing. If quantum breaks cryptography, it’s over. Doesn’t matter if your crypto is staked or not. Your private keys? Gone. Your wallet? Compromised. Your encrypted messages, passwords, bank accounts, Tinder DMs? All exposed.

And yes, I went there. If you’ve got secret urges and you’re hiding them online—quantum doesn’t care. It’ll find them.

Now, staked crypto might actually be less safe in the meantime—not because of quantum, but because of custody risk. When you stake, especially through an exchange like Coinbase, Kraken, or Binance, you’re handing over your keys. That’s not your crypto anymore. That’s a trust issue.

We say “don’t trust, verify” in this space—but staking often means trusting someone else. Bugs happen. Hacks happen. Exploits happen. The bigger the target, the greater the risk. And a staking pool with 10,000 ETH? That’s a target.

So no—quantum isn’t here yet. But trust issues already are.

Tony Sung-Shin’s Stablecoin Criticism Is 5 Years Too Late

Another listener asked about recent comments from Tony Sung-Shin, a BIS economist, who slammed stablecoins as dangerous, unregulated, and a risk to financial stability.

Sound familiar?

Everything he’s criticizing—no KYC, no AML, risk of illicit finance—is exactly what the Genius Act is trying to fix. Under that legislation, stablecoin issuers must be licensed, follow banking rules, and adhere to traditional financial oversight.

So his complaints might have been relevant in 2019—but now? It sounds like he hasn’t read the bill.

But here’s the kicker: even if the Genius Act fixes some risks, it creates others. Because we’re handing monetary rails over to private companies. And unlike governments, they’re not bound by constitutional rights.

What happens when Circle gets a call to freeze the funds of protestors?

Or geofences 50 square miles around a demonstration?

Or blocks you from using USDC on “problematic” websites?

That’s programmable money in private hands. That’s terrifying. We’ve seen this before—company towns, scrip money, you name it. Now it’s coming back in blockchain form.

And no, I don’t trust either party not to abuse that power.

Prediction Markets Are More Than Bets—They’re Real-Time Truth Engines

Here’s the thing nobody wants to admit: we don’t know what’s real anymore.
Headlines lie. Polls are manipulated. Experts flip-flop based on who’s paying them or who’s watching. Half of the “facts” we consume are just pre-chewed narratives wrapped in confidence.

So what do we trust?
Money.
Or more specifically—incentivized truth.

That’s why prediction markets matter.

When someone puts their money on the line and says, “Yeah, I believe Trump wins this,” or “No, the CPI numbers will come in lower,” that bet carries weight. They’re risking something. They’re not just talking—they’re exposing themselves to consequence. That’s rare in today’s world.

Look at Polymarket, Manifold, Kalshi—hell, even Betfair when it dabbles in politics. They’re messy, yes. Prone to manipulation, sure. But you know what? They course-correct. They adjust. Because every player is trying to get ahead of the truth. And that pressure—millions of dollars, real-time consensus, asymmetric information flowing into a single price—is powerful.

These aren’t just bets.
They’re sentiment signals.
They’re narrative detectors.
They’re the closest thing we have to a decentralized truth oracle.

And the closer you get to the actual event—an election, an indictment, a debate performance—the harder they are to manipulate. Because no one wants to lose money lying to themselves.

Now take this one step further. Kevin brought this up, and I love it:

What if we extended this model to people?
What if you could stake on reputation?

Imagine you could bet on whether a journalist is telling the truth.
You listen to a clip from Joe Rogan or Rachel Maddow or whoever, and instead of yelling at the TV, you stake cryptobased on whether you think they’re right or wrong. You’re not just tweeting your opinion—you’re financially backing your belief.

If they’re right, you win. If they’re wrong, you lose. Multiply that by thousands of people across the political spectrum doing the same thing, and suddenly you’ve got a real-time credibility score. Not one dictated by social media algorithms or blue checkmarks, but by economic consensus.

We’ve gamified likes. We’ve gamified attention. Why not gamify truth?

That’s what prediction markets could evolve into—not just a place to bet on elections or inflation, but a live, dynamic accountability system. And sure, there are risks. People can game anything. But you know what you can’t game forever? Losses.

If your grift doesn’t pay, it dies.

That’s what excites me. Not the Trump vs. Harris odds, not who’s winning the debate polls, but the idea that we might finally build something where honesty pays and BS gets punished. That’s bigger than crypto. That’s civilization-level infrastructure.

And in a world where everything feels rigged?

That’s worth building.

On-Chain Transparency Shows Us the Corruption We’ve Always Had

Take TrumpCoin. People freaked out when Trump’s team launched a memecoin that gave access to special dinners and events.

Let me ask you this—how is that any different than a $500,000 donation to a Super PAC?

The difference is now you can see it.

On-chain records show exactly who holds how much, and when. Before, it was private fundraisers, personal checks, and dark money. Now? Same game, just finally visible.

That’s not new corruption. That’s old corruption with a spotlight on it.

Same with prediction markets. If a billionaire dumps $10 million into PollyMarket to skew the odds, you see it. You can track the wallet. You can call out the manipulation. You can challenge the narrative.

Free Markets, EV Mandates, and Porsche’s Identity Crisis

Let’s pivot to something close to my heart: Porsche Boxsters.

I love my Boxster. It's light, balanced, analog. But the EU’s emissions mandates are pushing Porsche to electrify the 718 line. And no one asked for that. I don’t want an electric Boxster. The market doesn’t want an electric Boxster.

We’re seeing governments dictate supply instead of responding to demand. That’s how you get bad products and bad outcomes. You get mandates instead of market competition.

Tesla didn’t succeed because of regulation. It succeeded because it made EVs cool. Porsche should be allowed to do the same—but not forced into it.

Same goes for grocery stores, rent caps, or student loans. The more the government interferes, the more distorted the incentives get. You get overpriced degrees with no market demand, rent that doesn't match housing supply, and EVs that no one wants.

My Take

The real fight in crypto isn't stablecoins vs. altcoins. It's freedom vs. control.

The Genius Act closes some regulatory gaps—but it opens the door to censorship by corporations. Prediction markets give us transparency—but we need to build reputation protocols on top of them. Porsche is being nudged into electric because of regulation, not demand—and that’s exactly what’s wrong with the broader system.

Markets work. The people usually get it right—if you let them.

Let prediction markets flourish. Let consumers pick the Boxster they want. Let crypto stay decentralized. And let’s stop pretending that regulation automatically means protection.

Final Thoughts

Stablecoins won’t kill altcoins. But bad products will.
Quantum is coming—and nothing’s safe.
Private companies controlling programmable money? That’s the scariest risk of all.
Prediction markets and staking truth could give us the tools to fight back.
And the Boxster? It better stay loud and gas-powered.

Happy HODLing, everyone.

Get more from Daily Crypto News in the Substack app

Available for iOS and Android

Get the app

Cars and Crypto: Road Noise, Market Noise, and Porsche Joyrides

A recording from Daily Crypto News's live video

Daily Crypto News

Euro Exchange War: OKX Joins Coinbase in EU Expansion

Crypto exchanges are in a full-blown licensing arms race in Europe. The latest? OKX just secured a license in Germany, giving them access to all 27 EU member states under MiCA rules.

Yesterday, we talked about Coinbase getting approval in Luxembourg. Today, OKX enters Germany. This isn't just about territory—this is about survival. This asymmetry might give them the flexibility to outlast competitors forced to chase profitability quarter by quarter.

<picture></picture>

<g>

</g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

Ethereum’s “Glamsterdam” Upgrade: Faster Blocks Incoming

Ethereum devs are already teasing the next big upgrade—code-named “Glamsterdam”—coming in 2026. The goal? Cut block times in half and double throughput.

That’s good news for Layer 2s, which use Ethereum as a settlement layer. More base-layer throughput = more L2 performance. The crypto nerds get it. Everyone else will feel it as smoother apps, faster DeFi, and hopefully cheaper gas.

Unlocks, Listings, and Other Market Chatter

Big token unlocks this month: Blast, Venom, and ACX.

Binance is updating listings. Humanity Protocol is now trading.

None of that compares to Bitcoin popping back above $105K after rumors of an Iran-Israel ceasefire. Last week we were stuck around $100K. The second missiles stop flying? Number go up.

But let’s be honest—it's all geopolitical whiplash. Every time peace feels possible, the market breathes. Every time bombs drop, markets tank. It’s exhausting.

My Take: We Need Silence

Let me be clear: the economy is strong, the markets should be stronger, and investors are ready. But the geopolitical chaos is suppressing everything.

We’ve got capital waiting on the sidelines, itching to be deployed. But investors can’t go full ape when headlines scream "missile strike" every few days. Even if people aren't pulling money out, they're definitely not putting it in.

Give us three weeks of quiet—just three—and we’ll be off to the races. Capital will flood back into tech, crypto, stocks, everything. But if the chaos keeps coming, we’re going to start seeing real damage. Hiring freezes, smaller raises, postponed remodels, vacations scaled back. Death by a thousand cautious decisions.

Porsche Boxster vs Tesla Model Y: Lifestyle Matchup

So here I am, writing this while driving my 2004 Porsche Boxster S. Manual. Mid-engine. Flat six. About 260 horses. Second gear is joy incarnate.

I used to drive a Tesla Model Y Performance. Insane speed. 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Great tech. Loved it. But here's the surprise—my 21-year-old Boxster is giving me 80% of the joy for 12% of the price.

In fact, I'd argue the Porsche fits my lifestyle better than the Tesla. It's more fun, more raw, and honestly more practical than you'd think. I’ve packed this thing for a multi-week trip. Full-size suitcase up front. Backpack and toiletries in the rear. Try that in a Miata or Z3.

The Tesla had better tech, better seats, and brutal straight-line speed. But the Porsche handles like it was built to make your soul smile. I'm looking at getting a newer one—maybe a 981 or 718 GTS. But even this old 986 handles like a dream, especially once I upgrade the suspension.

Long-Term Outlook: Up and to the Right

Markets, historically, go up and to the right. The S&P, the NASDAQ, even crypto. We’re beating inflation. Money market returns are 4%+, beating CPI. Bitcoin has held remarkably steady.

Short-term? I’m pissed. The markets should be ripping, and they're stuck sideways because of external noise. But long-term, I’m still bullish. We’re early.

I’m not buying a Bugatti. I’m not flying first class. I’m traveling with a gym bag, some Greek yogurt, and a 20-year-old Porsche. And I’m checking off the life boxes that matter.

The TEMU Mindset: 80% of the Dream for 10% of the Cost

What Is the TEMU Mindset?

I’m not talking about the app itself. I’m talking about the philosophy behind it: getting 80% of what you want for 10–20% of the cost.

Whether it’s travel, cars, lifestyle, or career—I'm not chasing Instagram versions of life. I’m building a real one, and I’m doing it smart. Not cheap. Smart.

And guess what? That 80% feels just as good—sometimes better—than the full-priced dream.

Used Porsche Joy Beats New Car Stress

Let’s use my car as the perfect example.

Would I love a new 911 Turbo S? Sure. But it’s $250K+. That’s a millionaire’s toy. What I’m driving instead is a $12K 2004 Porsche Boxster S. It cost 12% of a new one, but gives me 80% of the experience.

Mid-engine. Flat-six. Manual. Screams to 7,200 RPM. Trunk and frunk. And it turns heads.

I’m not worried about rock chips or resale value. I’m enjoying the damn car.

Your Life Goals Aren’t Off Limits—Just Redefined

Want to travel? Budget it. Stay at a Best Western. Shop Wegmans.

Want a lake house? Maybe it’s a $50K cabin in West Virginia, not a $4M estate in Tahoe.

Want to run for Congress? You don’t need to win to check it off the list.

The point is: You can get there. But if you define success only by luxury finishes and blue checkmarks, you’ll always feel behind.

Most People Don’t Do the Thing

They say “I wish I could…” and then they don’t.

They make excuses. “I’ve got kids.” “My job doesn’t allow it.” “Now’s not the time.”

But time keeps moving. And one day you look up and the thing you always talked about doing? Never happened.

That scares the hell out of me.
That’s why I’m on the road, eating Greek yogurt, and sleeping in $125 hotels—because I’d rather do the thing imperfectly than not at all.

Instagram Is a Lie, Experience Is the Truth

I’ve sat in first class. I didn’t pay for it, but I’ve been there. It’s nice.
Is it $10,000 nice? No.

I’ve driven new Teslas, new Porsches. I love them.
But I also love wrenching on a 20-year-old Boxster and knowing I got something raw and real.

Luxury is fleeting. But experience? That sticks with you.

My Rules for the TEMU Life

Never buy new cars — depreciation is brutal. Let someone else take that hit.

Travel cheap — eat well, sleep comfortably, don’t overpay.

Spend on experience, affordable can be an image — fun, comfort, and capability can = clout.

Measure joy, not flex — if it brings you real happiness, who cares if it’s bougie?

Elbow grease is a multiplier — wrench it, fix it, clean it, mod it, and it becomes yours.

My Fear: “I Wish I Had…”

What keeps me moving is a very simple fear:
I don’t want to be old, sitting on regrets, saying “I wish I had.”

I’ve seen too many people lock themselves into a life they never wanted—because of expectations, peer pressure, or just giving up on themselves.

I’m not going to be that guy.
Even if I fall short, I’ll fall forward.

You Can TEMU Anything

Want to:

See the world? Fly economy, not Emirates.

Own fun cars? Buy five-year-old Porsches, not brand-new Ferraris.

Work remotely? Build a business. Take the risk.

Be fit at 50? Start training at 30. Or today.

Have a beautiful home? Renovate, don’t rebuild. Build it slowly, room by room.

You can get close. You can get enough. And most of the time, “enough” is everything.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve ever caught yourself saying, “I wish I could,” stop.

Ask yourself:
What’s the 80% version of that goal?
How much does it really cost?
What could you give up for a month or two to get closer?

Because most people aren’t living their dream.
They’re living the version of it they settled for.

I’m trying to live mine. On my terms. With my rules.

Happy HODLing.
