A Bitcoin Inspired Weekly · Where we are on the way up, and who’s reading the route right
Welcome to The Climb — the bull-market successor to the Cycle Clock. That watch did its job: it tracked the bear to its floor and retired on the call. Now the question flips from “where’s the bottom?” to “how’s the climb going?” — the map above us, and the guides reading the route.
🗺️ Where We Stand
Valley floor: ~$58,000 (June 2026 — the cycle bottom, confirmed)
You are here: ~$81,700 · +40% off the floor · this week: −2.4% (slipped slightly, held the ledge)
The summit: $126,198 (Oct 6 2025 ATH — ~54% overhead)
The bottom question is answered. The only one left is how the climb is going — and this week was a real foothold test. We slipped a step but didn’t fall off the face.
🪜 The Ladder Overhead
🔹 $84,000 — the “turn” level; reclaim on a daily close to go constructive · +3% · next foothold
🔹 $87,374 — October’s high (rejected 5×) · +7%
🔹 $100,000 — Std Chartered’s year-end target · +22%
🔹 $126,198 — the old summit · +54%
Clear $84K and the path to $87K reopens; below $80K, the base comes back into question. That $80K–$84K box is the whole near-term fight.
🧭 The Guides — This Week’s Report Card
The hot-CPI week graded the voices, and the pattern held: caution on timing paid; loud “all-clear” calls didn’t.
✅ Called it — the cautious-timing camp again. The week’s dip to $79,806 is exactly the near-term bite voices like Peter Brandt have warned about all along. And Glassnode + Rand Group flagged a local bottom near $80K (Oct 16) right as the floor held — early, but aging well so far.
⏳ Holding firm — the structural bulls haven’t blinked. Matt Hougan’s “10-year grind up, not a moonshot” fits this choppy week better than any euphoric call. Jordi Visserwent further Oct 17, calling Bitcoin his “most asymmetric bet ever” — a long-horizon, very-high-target conviction play. Standard Chartered’s $100K year-end still stands (reaffirmed Oct 9) — but the clock’s real: ~22% in ~11 weeks.
🔻 Looking early — Michael Saylor declared the bear market over on Oct 14… roughly 48 hours before the week’s sharpest dip to $79,806. His multi-year thesis is intact and he kept buying — but the “all-clear” timing aged awkwardly, fast.
The read: nobody turned bearish on the thesis — the split is still timing, and this week timing-caution won again. Six-plus weeks in, the voices earning trust are the ones who respect the path (Hougan’s grind framing, the floor-callers) over the ones calling the all-clear. Weight the guides who price in the pullbacks.
The Bottom Line
One week onto a tougher stretch of the climb, Bitcoin slipped ~2.4% and wicked to $79,806 — then caught the ledge, defended by spot buyers and record whale wallets, not leverage. A foothold test passed, not a fall. The near-term fight is the $80K–$84K box: hold the floor, reclaim $84K, and the route to $87K reopens. The weather ahead is heavy — the Oct 27–28 Fed and a huge Oct 30 options expiry — but Warsh already cooled hike odds to 15%. Base camp holds. We climb.
