Good morning, everybody.
It’s your Daily Crypto News for Wednesday, October 21st, 2026. My name is Matt.
First, I want to thank Isaac for writing in on Spotify and thanking me for pumping Bitcoin back above $83,000. You’re welcome, Isaac. That’s what I do. Brian Armstrong, Vitalik Buterin, Michael Saylor, Elon Musk, sit down. You’re all puppets on a string, and apparently I control the entire cryptocurrency market.
Obviously, that’s a joke. Please don’t trade based on my imaginary market-moving superpowers.
But Bitcoin is moving higher, and we have some interesting developments today. JPMorgan is forecasting Bitcoin returns over the next decade, Solana has a major network upgrade, and institutional adoption continues expanding.
First, let’s bring in Craig Cobb to explain what he’s seeing in the charts.

Craig’s Bitcoin Analysis
Craig has been watching Bitcoin consolidate for several weeks. Rather than focusing on every movement in the four-hour chart, he’s stepping back to examine the weekly and three-month timeframes.
On the weekly chart, Bitcoin established a higher low followed by a higher high. The recent pullback toward $80,000 has brought Bitcoin back into an area containing important moving averages.
Craig sees this as a potentially constructive position for the market.
If Bitcoin can establish another higher low here and move above its previous weekly high, that would strengthen the bullish trend. It could also confirm an important development on the three-month chart, where a bullish candle has formed following the previous decline.
But Craig isn’t declaring a breakout yet.
The four-hour Bitcoin chart remains messy, with overlapping price action and no particularly attractive trading structure. His message is that sometimes the best trading decision is to stay out of the market.
A bullish longer-term outlook doesn’t automatically mean there’s a good trade available today.
Craig’s Altcoin Watchlist
Craig is also beginning to identify opportunities in altcoins, particularly for spot positions based on weekly trends.
He’s looking for assets that have established higher highs and higher lows before pulling back toward previous resistance levels that could become support.
His current watchlist includes:
AAVE
Ethena (ENA)
Chainlink (LINK)
LIT
Litecoin (LTC)
Ondo (ONDO)
Pendle (PENDLE)
Solana (SOL)
Sui (SUI)
Bittensor (TAO)
Zcash (ZEC)
Zcash has already started moving, while several others are approaching potentially interesting areas.
Craig is particularly interested in highly liquid assets showing established weekly uptrends. He may use daily-chart levels to identify entries rather than waiting for the weekly candle to close.
He’s also watching the broader altcoin market outside the top ten cryptocurrencies. That market has pulled back toward its moving averages and is beginning to show signs of bullish momentum.
Nothing is confirmed yet, but Craig believes the conditions are becoming worth watching.
Thanks, Craig. We’ll keep following those levels as the market develops.

JPMorgan Predicts Bitcoin Could Return 10% Annually Over the Next Decade
Now, let’s get into our institutional news.
JPMorgan has reportedly published its first ten-year return forecast for Bitcoin, projecting approximately 10% annualized returns.
For comparison, the bank’s forecast for gold is approximately 5.5% annually.
That’s an interesting acknowledgment from one of the world’s largest financial institutions.
JPMorgan also estimates Bitcoin’s volatility around 55% and says its relationship with other assets remains too unpredictable for inclusion in its standard portfolio allocation models.
Personally, I think 10% is conservative.
I could see Bitcoin averaging 15%, possibly even 20% or more over certain periods, depending on how future market cycles develop. That’s my expectation, not a guarantee.
But what interests me is how investors might eventually use Bitcoin as an income-producing asset through planned withdrawals.
Imagine you own one Bitcoin worth $80,000. Over the next 10 or 20 years, its value could appreciate substantially, although the path certainly wouldn’t be smooth.
Instead of trying to sell at every market peak, you could model withdrawing a fixed dollar amount each year.
Maybe that’s $5,000 annually. Maybe it’s $10,000. The sustainable amount would depend on returns, volatility, taxes, and how much Bitcoin you have.
You could model different scenarios in Excel or use AI to help calculate them.
Think about it this way: what if your Bitcoin holdings could help pay for a family vacation every year for the next twenty years?
Some families spend $20,000 on vacations. Others pack everybody into the car, share a hotel room, and get it done for $4,000.
Either way, the idea is to plan rather than randomly sell whenever you need money.
Of course, Bitcoin could fall dramatically, and a fixed withdrawal strategy could deplete your holdings. That’s why the assumptions matter.

BlackRock’s ETF Inflows Show How Bitcoin Adoption Is Changing
JPMorgan’s forecast comes just after another significant institutional development.
On Monday, BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF reportedly attracted approximately $665 million, contributing to nearly $500 million in total net inflows across U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs.
That’s a substantial amount of money moving into Bitcoin investment products.
And here’s something I think people overlook.
Bitcoin is still approximately 30% below its previous all-time high, according to the market comparison we’re discussing, yet institutional adoption continues advancing.
Price and adoption don’t necessarily move together.
We’ve watched something similar happen with gold. As investment products became more accessible and gold became integrated into portfolios, institutional demand developed over time.
I think Bitcoin could follow a comparable path.
Rather than one enormous wave of money arriving overnight, we may see steady accumulation through ETFs, corporate treasuries, banks, retirement accounts, and other financial products.
That could eventually contribute to a more mature, less volatile Bitcoin market.
And yes, I’ve considered buying physical gold myself. Every time I think about it, the price seems to take off before I actually buy anything.
Apparently, I’m excellent at predicting opportunities and terrible at acting on them.

Could Tesla and SpaceX Combine More Than 30,000 Bitcoin?
Another interesting corporate story involves speculation about a potential Tesla and SpaceX merger.
The companies have reportedly explored the possibility through independent committees, although no merger agreement has been announced.
If such a combination happened, the resulting business could control more than 30,000 Bitcoin through the companies’ existing holdings.
But I’m more interested in what a merger might mean for the companies’ valuations.
Would Tesla shares benefit? Would combining the businesses create efficiencies, or would investors view the deal as unnecessarily complicated?
I haven’t worked through the numbers yet.
I also have some regrets about not investing when SpaceX became available to public-market investors. I thought there might be an opportunity, but I’ve become much more conservative after taking some financial punches over the years.
Sometimes you recognize a potential opportunity and still don’t pull the trigger.
Cry for me, Argentina.

The GENIUS Act Reaches Its Next Regulatory Milestone
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has reportedly issued its final rule implementing its portion of the GENIUS Act, becoming one of the first major federal regulators to complete its stablecoin rulemaking under the legislation.
The law establishes a federal framework for payment stablecoins, including requirements involving reserves, liquid backing assets, audits, and regulatory supervision.
This is another step toward integrating stablecoins into the traditional financial system.
We’ve spent years debating whether cryptocurrency needs regulatory clarity. Now we’re watching the details of that framework being implemented.

Eight Private Keys Cracked in Under a Second, but Cryptography Didn’t Fail
Here’s a security headline that sounds absolutely terrifying.
Researchers reportedly recovered eight private cryptographic keys associated with the Indian certificate authority eMudhra in less than one second.
But this wasn’t quantum computing breaking encryption, and it wasn’t AI discovering some revolutionary mathematical shortcut.
The problem was reportedly extremely weak private-key generation.
The keys were derived from values so predictable that researchers could recover them almost immediately.
Think of it like installing the strongest vault door in the world and setting the combination to 1-2-3-4.
The vault isn’t necessarily defective. Your security practices are.
This is an important distinction because we’ve been discussing quantum computing and cryptographic vulnerabilities for weeks.
Modern cryptography can be mathematically sound while the systems implementing it remain vulnerable to poor security decisions.

Solana’s Alpenglow Upgrade Targets 150-Millisecond Finality
One of today’s biggest blockchain technology stories is Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade, which is reportedly scheduled to activate today.
The upgrade aims to dramatically reduce transaction finality from approximately six seconds to 150 milliseconds.
That’s roughly a fortyfold improvement.
For blockchain infrastructure, finality matters because it determines how quickly a transaction can be considered settled.
If Solana achieves those performance improvements reliably, it could strengthen the network’s position in applications requiring extremely fast settlement.
That’s a significant engineering objective, although we’ll need to see how the upgrade performs in practice.

We’re seeing a solid recovery across much of the cryptocurrency market.
Bitcoin: $83,360, up 2.2%
Ethereum: $2,461, up 3.2%
BNB: $745, up 2.4%
XRP: $1.35, up 4.4%

My Take
I think today’s news shows how Bitcoin is gradually transitioning from a speculative asset into something that major financial institutions are beginning to incorporate into long-term investment planning.
JPMorgan forecasting ten-year returns is significant. BlackRock bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars through its ETF is significant. And Craig’s analysis suggests Bitcoin may be developing a constructive setup on its higher timeframes.
But none of that means we’re guaranteed another immediate rally.
We’re still watching whether Bitcoin can establish a higher low around $80,000 and eventually break above its previous weekly high.
I also think investors should spend more time thinking about how they intend to use their cryptocurrency holdings.
Are you accumulating indefinitely? Planning to sell during major market cycles? Hoping to supplement retirement income? Or simply trying to build long-term wealth?
Those questions matter more than whether Bitcoin moves up or down $2,000 tomorrow.
