A Bitcoin Inspired Weekly · Where we are on the way up, and who’s reading the route right
🗺️ Where We Stand
Valley floor: ~$58,000 (June 2026 — the cycle bottom)
You are here: ~$78,000 · +33% off the floor · this week: −4% (slid to a six-week low, recovering)
The summit: $126,198 (Oct 6 2025 ATH — ~62% overhead)
Three down-weeks in a row have walked the marker back down the face — from $81.7K at this column’s debut to $78K now. We’re off the high ground and resting on a lower ledge (the 200-day, ~$76,400). Still well above the June floor — but this is the first real retreat of the Climb era.
🪜 The Ladder Overhead
🔹 $78,000 — current footing · holding here is step one
🔹 $80,000 — reclaim to steady the structure · +3% · next foothold
🔹 $82,000 — the moving-average cluster · +5%
🔹 $100,000 — Std Chartered’s year-end target · +28%
🔹 $126,198 — the old summit · +62%
Below: the ledge that matters is the 200-day (~$76,400). Hold it and $78K, and the slide’s a pause. Lose $76K and the next ledges are $74K, then $72K.
🧭 The Guides — This Week’s Report Card
The worst-case week sorted the voices sharply.
✅ Called it — the cautious camp, again. Everyone who flagged November/December macro risk and said the Fed’s hawkishness would cap the rally read it right — the hawkish 10–2 hold (Oct 28) did exactly that, and October closed red.
⏳ Holding firm — the long-term bulls didn’t blink, even through the largest hack in history. Galaxy’s Alex Thorn still has the bottom in at June ~$58K (Oct 28) — tested by the slide to $76K, but price never came close to breaking it. Bitwise published 2036 targets (Oct 29) — $130K bear / $1.6M base / $3.7M bull — unmoved by the hack. The tell: a $6.3B heist, and the structural theses stood, because the serious read is that it was a custodial failure, not a Bitcoin one.
🔻 Looking early — the year-end bulls are now stretched thin. Standard Chartered’s $100K and Bernstein’s $125Kby December (reaffirmed Oct) need ~30–60% in roughly eight weeks from here — the hawkish Fed and the hack have made those look very early. And the “Uptober is always green” seasonal crowd got a clean miss: October closed down ~8%.
The read: long-term conviction intact and tested-but-unbroken (June floor held through the worst headline imaginable); near-term year-end targets under real pressure; the cautious timers earned their keep again. Weight the structure over the price-target calendar.
The Bottom Line
Bitcoin just took three hammers in one week — a hawkish Fed, the biggest hack in history, a red October — and the worst it did was slip to its 200-day and hold. That’s the Climb’s first real retreat, and honesty demands naming it: we’re lower on the face than a month ago, momentum is soft, and November starts weak. But the two things that matter most held — the June floor (the bull case’s foundation) and the withdrawal reopen (Binance paid out cleanly Sunday, ~95% restored, no run). The near-term hinges on holding $76K and reclaiming $80K into the midterms (Nov 3). Slipped down the face, yes — but still on the wall, still above the floor, still climbing. ⚓

Still 33% above the June floor and sitting on the 200-day after a week like that is a decent sign to me. Does the $80K reclaim need the Fed tone to soften first, or can it happen without that?
