β market analyst Ted Pillows, Oct 15, after BTC defended $80K through the equity rout

The Shock: September CPI ran hot β 3.7% YoY, core 0.3% MoM (both above forecast) β reviving Fed-hike fear midweek
The Test: a global risk-off (KOSPI β8%, Nikkei β5%) dragged BTC to a wick low of $79,806 β then buyers bought it back
The Relief: Warsh gave no hike hints Friday β October-hike odds fell to 15%; the $1.47B options expiry cleared clean
β±οΈ The Climb (new Sunday flagship) debuts tomorrow β the Cycle Clockβs bull-market successor.
π‘ PART ONE β THE WEEK THAT WAS
β The 5-Day Arc
π΄ Mon β Coiled. BTC recovered to ~$83.5K, shrugging off $681M of prior ETF outflows, and coiled in a tight range waiting on CPI. The calm before.
π Tue β The Decoupling. A wild round-trip β $80,850 to $84K in hours β but the story was BTC rising while tech fell; it decoupled from a chip-stock rout, and funding went negative for the first time in 3 months.
π‘οΈ Wed β The Hot Number. Dovish Fed hope lifted BTC toward $84K pre-CPI β then September CPI printed hot (3.7%), putting an October hike βback on the table.β BTC broke $82K; Saylor called the bear over just before the dip.
π Thu β The Wick. The selloff deepened into a global rout (KOSPI β8%); BTC cracked $80K to $79,806 β then buyers dragged it back above $82K, defending the 50-day line. Held the hard way.
ποΈ Fri β The Relief. Warsh walked back the hike fear (odds to 15%), the $1.47B expiry cleared without drama, and Glassnode + Rand Group flagged a potential local bottom near $80K. Whale wallets hit a record high; mining difficulty jumped ~6%.
π§ The Quiet Signal
This was a stress test, and the floor passed it. Line up what the week threw at Bitcoin: a hotter-than-expected inflation print that revived Fed-hike fear, a synchronized global equity rout with Asian markets down 5β8%, a $1.47 billion options expiry, and oil-and-geopolitics noise on top. Any one of those is a real catalyst; all of them in the same weekis a demolition attempt. And Bitcoinβs response was to wick to $79,806 β and get bought back above $82K within hours. The $80,000 line that the whole recovery rests on took its single hardest test of the cycle and held. Look at who did the holding: it wasnβt leverage (that got flushed β hundreds of millions liquidated across the week); it was spot buyers and record-high whale wallets accumulating the fear, while the network itself got ~6% harder to attack. Thatβs the anatomy of a real floor β tested from every angle, defended by conviction rather than borrowed money, with the protocol strengthening underneath. The honest caveat stays: BTCβs still capped below $84K, down ~7% on the year, and the big Oct 30 expiry and Oct 27β28 Fed loom. But a floor youβve watched survive the worst a week can throw is worth more than one that was never tested. This week, $80K earned its credibility.
π
PART TWO β THE WEEK AHEAD
π
Whatβs Coming
ποΈ OCT 27β28 β FOMC. The big one. Warsh cooled hike odds to 15%; a hold (or dovish hold) would lift the vise thatβs capped BTC all month.
π― OCT 30 β MONTHLY OPTIONS EXPIRY. 148,000+ contracts β far bigger than Fridayβs. The monthβs real derivatives event.
π³οΈ US MIDTERMS LOOM (Nov 3). Election-season volatility and crypto-policy stakes enter the frame.
π THE LEVELS THAT DECIDE: hold $80K and the base stands; reclaim $84K on a daily close to turn constructive toward $87K.
π The Levels
π’ Support: $80,000 (held all week) β $79,806 (the wick low) β $78,000 β $76,000
π΄ Resistance: $82,000 β $83,478 (midpoint) β $84,000 (the turn) β $87,000
β The Bottom Line
The week tried to break $80,000 with everything it had β a hot CPI, a global rout, a billion-dollar-plus expiry, a wick to $79,806 β and the floor held, defended by spot buyers and record whale accumulation rather than leverage. Thatβs a stress test passed, not a victory lap: Bitcoinβs still boxed below $84K with the Fed and a huge expiry dead ahead at month-end. But you know where the ground is now, because this week found it. Hold $80K, reclaim $84K, and the path reopens. Rest up β and tomorrow, something new: The Climb debuts, the bull-market successor to the Cycle Clock, mapping where we are on the way back up. β
